There is only one week to go before Barcelona lose control over the future of Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford. The Catalans have a €30m buy option for the English winger, but they have made it clear that they want to negotiate a new deal with the Premier League giants – although that is proving to be almost impossible.

After signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, there is less of a need for Rashford in Hansi Flick’s squad, but there is still a desire for the 28-year-old to be signed. Barcelona saw a €15m offer turned down last week, but they will not be down-heartened by this, as they seek to finally secure an agreement with Man United.

But the problem Barcelona face is that Man United’s demands will be met elsewhere. According to Christian Falk (via Sport), Bayern Munich are prepared to match Rashford’s €30m asking price, with an offer expected to be submitted once the Catalans’ buy option expires next Monday.

Prior to signing for Barcelona a couple of weeks ago, Gordon had attracted strong interest from Bayern, whose “revenge” could now see them secure the services of Rashford. Man United are ready to take the proposed offer, although they cannot do anything until a final decision is made from the Spotify Camp Nou.

Rashford continues to prioritise Barcelona stay

According to the report, Rashford would consider joining Barcelona, but only in the event that Barcelona pull out of the race to sign him. As of yet, they have not done so, which is why Bayern and Man United must wait for a decision to be made from Catalonia.

It remains to be seen how Rashford’s situation plays out. For now, his focus is on playing for England at the 2026 World Cup, although he will have on eye on Barcelona and their transfer plans for him.
