Bayern Munich quickly managed to get over the disappointment of Champions League elimination by securing a commanding 4-0 win away at FC Heidenheim on Saturday. The Bavarian club is on track to regain the Bundesliga title with four matchdays to go in the season. Bayern need two more wins to etch their name on the trophy.

Vincent Kompany made several changes to the starting XI that feature in a 2-2 draw away at San Siro on Wednesday. Aleksandar Pavlovic replaced Leon Goretzka in the midfield, while Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry returned to the lineup.

Bayern started the game on the front foot, creating problems for the hosts in the final third. The Bavarian club had pinned Heidenheim in their half. The early pressure eventually led to a goal in the 12th minute. Michael Olise brilliantly found Harry Kane in the box after neat linkup play with Konrad Laimer. Kane took the ball on turn and calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper with his left foot.

The floodgates were open for Bayern as soon as they got the first goal. Serge Gnabry played a beautiful defense-splitting pass to find Konrad Laimer’s run on the right flank. The Austrian midfielder calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to double Die Roten’s lead in the 19th minute.

The game would have been sealed in the 22nd minute when Harry Kane had the opportunity to double his tally for the afternoon. However, he uncharacteristically mistimed his header from close range.

Bayern had no plans to ease the pressure on Heidenheim. They were relentless in the attack and eventually tripled the lead and put the game past the hosts in the 36th minute. Raphael Guerreiro’s attempt on the goal was saved by the goalkeeper, but Coman was alert to regain possession and drilled the ball into the net.

Bayern saw out the game in the second half to seal three points

The record Bundesliga champions showed urgency in the final third during the first 15 minutes of the second half. Joshua Kimmich got himself on the scoresheet in the 56th minute, which put the game beyond the hosts. It was a precise finish from the edge of the box.

The visitors didn’t give the hosts any breathing space for the remainder of the second half. They controlled the tempo of the game and created a few chances. However, Bayern couldn’t add more to their goal tally. The visitors had 18 shots on the goal and created six big chances. Meanwhile, the home side had to be content with just four shots.

Bayern have a lead of nine points, albeit playing an extra game over Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarian club needs to win two of their remaining four games to clinch the Bundesliga title.
