Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has revealed that he considers a pair of Barcelona legends as his footballing ‘idols’, ahead of the upcoming meeting between the clubs.

Barca and Bayern are of course primed to lock horns later this evening, in a highly-anticipated Champions League clash in Catalunya’s capital.

Midfielder Kimmich, for his part, is expected to feature from the off in the middle of the park, no doubt set to play an important role in the eventual outcome of proceedings.

The German international, in turn, took his place in front of the media, in the buildup to the fixture.

And, during as much, one particular response provided by Kimmich set tongues wagging across the Barcelona fanbase.

This comes after the 29-year-old – hotly tipped to take his talents to the Camp Nou over recent seasons – named two Blaugrana icons as his ‘idols’ in the game:

“Barça and the Spanish national team left their mark on me. Xavi and Guardiola were my idols. Guardiola’s Barca was a revolution.”
