Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig to kick off the 2025/26 Bundesliga season | OneFootball

The DFL have announced that Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig will be the opening game for the new Bundesliga season.

The 25/26 Bundesliga season will kick off on Friday, the 22nd August at 20:30 CET (19:30 UK time), at the Allianz Arena.

This will come six days after Bayern Munich competed in the DFL Super Cup, renamed the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, against DFL Pokal winners VfB Stuttgart at the MHP Arena.

The last time Bayern faced Leipzig was in a 3-3 draw at the beginning of May in Leipzig, which saw Bayern come from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 before the hosts scored a 95th-minute equaliser.

This season’s opening game was between Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach, which was also an exciting game and saw Gladbach also come from 2-0 down to equalise in the 85th minute before Leverkusen won a penalty, which was missed by Florian Wirtz, but he would score the rebound.

The rest of the Bundesliga calendar will be released tomorrow (Friday, 27th June) at 14:00 CET (13:00 UK time).
