FC Bayern is continuing to work intensively on its future, with the record champions‘ scouts remaining busy internationally

Now another promising talent has turned up at the Bayern campus, with 15-year-old Josh O’Dwyer completing a trial training session at FC Bayern in recent days. The midfielder is an Irish U17 international and is considered one of the country’s most exciting talents in his age group. O’Dwyer himself made his visit public and posted a photo of the Bayern campus on Instagram – a clear sign that the German record champions have taken a very close look at the youngster

The visit fits in with Munich’s current campus strategy. Since Markus Weinzierl took over the role of sporting director at the campus in August 2024, FC Bayern has been on an even more targeted lookout for top international talent. The club wants to get to know players early on, assess their development potential and show them prospects in a professional environment. Trial training sessions like O’Dwyer’s are an integral part of long-term planning

In recent years, the campus has developed into the strategic heart of the club’s youth development work. The aim is to prepare talented players not only athletically, but also mentally and physically for professional soccer. Names such as Jamal Musiala and Lennart Karl are examples of the path the club wants to take. At the same time, Säbener Straße knows that not every player will make the direct jump to the first team. Nevertheless, FC Bayern benefits both athletically and economically from strong training

The fact that a 15-year-old U17 international from Ireland has found his way to Munich underlines the international aspirations of the campus. FC Bayern has long been monitoring the youth market not only in Germany, but throughout Europe – and increasingly beyond. It remains to be seen whether Josh O’Dwyer will play a bigger role in the plans in the future, but one thing is clear: Bayern have the next top talent on their hands and are keeping a close eye on his development.
