United are preparing for one of their toughest tests of the season when they meet Pep Guardiola’s side in the first Manchester derby of the campaign.

The team have struggled for results, collecting only one victory from their first three league fixtures.

The club’s shaky start has been made worse by problems in goal. This led United to secure the services of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day.

Amorim is hopeful that adding depth in this department will help the squad settle and improve results.

Speaking ahead of the clash with City, Amorim made it clear that Bayindir will be trusted to lead from the back.

The Turkish international joined United in 2023 but has not had many chances to prove himself. Now, the manager is placing complete faith in the 27-year-old.

Bayindir has featured in United’s opening three league matches, and Amorim confirmed he will keep his place for the derby.

“Altay [Bayindir] is going to continue because we need to,” Amorim explained.“This game is clear. Altay will start. It’s a show of faith in Altay.”

Amorim opened up on the situation and explained why the Cameroonian’s exit was the best outcome for both parties.

“For us, he could [have continued], but I think not just us as a club, but also Andre – I think we understood that this needed a change, and sometimes it’s up to point to why it’s the performance the moment, the bad luck in some moments, was hard on him, was hard on us and we we our thinking is to have a change in the in the goalkeepers, but I wish the best for Andre Onana.“He was, it was really good working, trying to help the players, but sometimes you can have all the quality in the world, but sometimes you need to change the environment to return to your level.“That, I think, was the feeling, not just from us.”

United currently sit ninth in the league table after taking just four points from three matches. With one win and one draw so far, Amorim knows that results must improve quickly. The derby against City provides a huge chance for his side to respond and set the tone for the weeks ahead.
