Liam Rosenior was sacked by Chelsea on Wednesday evening less than four months after signing a six and a half year contract.
The final straw was a 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Tuesday night, which was Chelsea’s fifth consecutive league defeat without scoring.
Calum McFarlane has been put in interim charge for the remainder of the season, whilst Chelsea take their time to conduct their search for a new head coach.
Andoni Iraola is reportedly the front runner, and the Spaniard has already announced he’ll be leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season.
It’s believed there could be between five to ten candidates for the job, and BBC Sport have reported Silva is set to be an option.
The report adds the fact Silva is represented by Jorge Mendes, who’s known to have a good relationship with the Chelsea board would ease any move.
Silva is out of contract with Fulham at the end of the season, and it looks very unlikely he’ll pen a new deal to extend his stay at Craven Cottage.
