BBC Sport detail internal feeling at Chelsea following tenth placed finish last season

This season has been widely regarded internally at Chelsea as a failure with the club failing to hit their minimum requirements according to reports.

It was another majorly disappointing season for the Blues, as they failed to build on the momentum of winning the Conference League and Club World Cup last season.
Instead the Blues finished tenth, and missed out on European football, with Bournemouth, Brighton, Sunderland and Brentford all finishing above them.
Chelsea also had three separate managers last season which started with Enzo Maresca walking out on the club in January.
He was replaced by Liam Rosenior in a disastrous move, with the Englishman lasting less than four months, and he was sacked following a 3-0 defeat to Brighton.
Calum McFarlane was placed in interim charge for the remainder of the season, but the Blues finished the season with two wins in their last 13 league games.
Defeat in the FA Cup final to Manchester City ensured they finished the season with no silverware, with fans furious at the ownership.
BBC Sport have reported the season has been viewed internally as a failure due to failing to qualify for the Champions League and winning no silverware.
The appointment of Xabi Alonso as manager suggest they might have learnt from some of their mistakes, but as always the ownership will judged on their actions.
