FC Bayern can clinch the championship this Sunday, but there will probably be no big celebrations if they win the title

Everything could be set for the next title in Munich on Sunday evening. After Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat in Hoffenheim, a draw at home to VfB Stuttgart will be enough for FC Bayern to clinch their 35th German championship

The lead over BVB would then grow to an unassailable 13 points – four matchdays before the end of the season. The sporting starting position is therefore clear and the championship is now just a formality

But while the fans are already preparing for possible celebrations, those responsible and the team itself are adopting a much calmer tone

Bayern deliberately refrain from big celebrations

Coach Vincent Kompany made it clear in advance that no big party is planned if the title is won. „The players have even said themselves that the focus is on Leverkusen after the game on Sunday – no matter what happens. We are now at a stage of the season where we can all live with waiting a little longer to celebrate.“

The background is clear: the semi-final of the DFB Cup against Bayer Leverkusen is just a few days away, and Munich are determined to reach the final – and are therefore avoiding anything that could disrupt their preparations

In addition to the possible championship, Bayern are also still in the running in the Champions League and will face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals. This makes it all the more important to stay focused in this crucial phase of the season

Bowl and wheat beer showers will have to wait

Fans will also have to be patient when it comes to the classic celebratory pictures, as the championship trophy is traditionally only presented on the last matchday – this year at the home game against 1. FC Köln on May 16

According to BILD, the popular wheat beer showers will also be cancelled for the time being. The large beer glasses will only be used at the official end of the season

If the title is clinched against Stuttgart, the players will celebrate the moment together with the fans in the Allianz Arena – presumably in their usual championship shirts

Afterwards, there will probably be a smaller, internal gathering. It is possible that the team, coaching team and managers will celebrate the title in a close circle with family and friends – for example over a meal together. However, a big party is not planned

FC Bayern has the title in its sights – but will only really celebrate when the season is finally over.
