Beñat Gerenabarrena to return to Athletic as Castellón loan ends | OneFootball

CD Castellón said in a statement that Beñat Gerenabarrena’s loan will end on 30 June, after which he will rejoin Athletic Club.

The Basque midfielder became an important figure for Castellón this season, showing adaptability and daily commitment since arriving at SkyFi Castalia. His versatility allowed him to operate in central midfield and on the right of defence, providing balance and composure on the ball.

Across the 2025/26 campaign he played 39 official matches and logged 2,798 minutes. He contributed two goals and two assists, influencing different phases of play and stepping up in key moments.

Beyond the numbers, he stood out for consistency and effort in every game. His pressing intensity, reading of the game and readiness to help in any situation earned the staff’s trust and the squad’s backing, as well as strong appreciation from the home support.
