Real Madrid are weighing up a crucial decision regarding Franco Mastantuono, with growing interest from Benfica potentially accelerating a summer move.
According to SPORT, the Argentine youngster is attracting attention from Portugal despite a noticeable dip in form this season.
Once regarded as one of the most exciting prospects within the setup, Mastantuono’s development has slowed, raising concerns internally at the club.
The outlet mentions that while Real Madrid still view him as a high-potential player, creative, competitive, and technically gifted, they recognise that his progress could stall without regular minutes.
As a result, the club is open to a temporary exit, provided it aligns with their long-term plans.
The situation becomes more complicated when looking at the attacking depth at the club.
With Endrick set to return to be fully integrated, and the possible return of Nico Paz and Victor Munoz, competition is only expected to increase.

Add to that the presence of Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Jr., and it becomes clear that opportunities will be limited.
With such intense competition, Real Madrid are concerned that a lack of playing time could affect Mastantuono’s confidence and long-term growth.
A loan move is therefore seen as a logical step to maintain his upward trajectory.
Interest is already building, with reports indicating that Benfica are ready to act and are open to negotiating under Real Madrid’s conditions.
This could include a straight loan or even a transfer with a buy-back clause, a structure that Madrid have successfully used in the past.
Despite the interest, Real Madrid have no intention of permanently losing control over the player as they acknowledge that he only needs consistent game time to fulfil his potential.
