Benfica have responded on X to Porto head coach Francesco Farioli’s comments about the officiating that followed the home draw with Famalicão. According to Glorioso 1904, the Lisbon club reacted shortly after the match ended level.

Farioli criticised the refereeing at Estádio do Dragão, saying Porto should have been awarded a penalty. He also remarked that the so-called grey area in decision-making was becoming increasingly green.

The exchange was prompted by a question about an incident involving Zaidu, which the referee and VAR did not flag. Benfica posted an image of that episode on X and labelled it the blue zone.

The debate over officiating has intensified with the return of Liga Portugal Betclic. Errors highlighted in Sporting’s meeting with Casa Pia were described as occurring for the third time this season.

On Friday, 3 April, both Benfica and Porto reacted to flashpoints from Sporting’s game against Santa Clara, where the Azorean side had a goal disallowed in bizarre fashion, provoking anger from staff led by Petir.

Benfica are back in action on Monday, 6 April, against Casa Pia in Rio Maior at 20:45, closing the 28th round of Liga Portugal Betclic. Hélder Carvalho has been appointed as referee.
