Benfica have renewed their interest in Zuriko Davitashvili. Gazzetta dello Sport of Georgia reports that the Saint-Étienne winger’s agent is set to meet the club in April to discuss a possible summer move.

No specific date has been set, and the meeting is understood to form part of a broader summer plan involving the player’s representative.

Benfica did not add a winger in January, encouraged by the recent form of Schjelderup and Prestianni. The returns of Bruma and Lukebakio also pushed any additions to the summer.

The club are set to try again for Davitashvili at the express request of José Mourinho, who is an admirer of the Georgian.

Davitashvili is a versatile winger who can operate on either flank. For Saint-Étienne this season he has made 19 appearances, 18 in Ligue 2 and one in the Coupe de France, across 1,387 minutes, scoring nine goals with one assist. He wears number 22 and is valued at eight million euros.
