Benfica to open pre-season on 15 June before Europa League qualifiers | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica used their official channels to confirm the 2026/27 start at Seixal, with players reporting on 15 June for medicals and fitness work. Their place in Europa League qualifying, confirmed by the Taça de Portugal outcome, has brought the schedule forward.

The World Cup group stage will still be under way then, so internationals involved will not be available.

The early start aligns with the first competitive fixture on 23 July, the first leg of the second qualifying round of the Europa League. The opponent is not yet known and could be a familiar one.

Players such as Anatoliy Trubin, Georgiy Sudakov, Enzo Barrenechea, Vangelis Pavlidis and Leandro Barreiro may be involved at the start, as they are not at the World Cup. Academy prospects Anísio Cabral, Daniel Banjaqui, José Neto and Gonçalo Moreira may also link up.

Uncertainty remains over who will lead the squad this pre-season. For now José Mourinho is in charge. His move to Real Madrid has been delayed, his release clause stands at €15 million, and the club are attentive to Marco Silva.
