Benfica tracking Viery, Luís Castro’s Grêmio set 20 million euro valuation | OneFootball

Benfica are monitoring centre-back Viery of Grêmio, the team coached by Luís Castro, but interest remains at an exploratory stage. According to Glorioso 1904, the Porto Alegre club say they have not received any formal or informal contact from the Lisbon side.

Benfica have gathered details on the player’s conditions and are aware of the price being discussed. Grêmio value the defender at around 20 million euros.

Viery has forced his way into the starting XI in recent months after a rapid rise. The left-footed 1.87-metre defender is noted for pace, ball progression and aggression in duels.

Brighton, Newcastle, Bologna and Lille are also tracking his progress, making the race competitive. Grêmio have already rejected bids in the past, including an offer from the United Arab Emirates.

This season for Grêmio, Viery, valued at three million euros, has played 18 competitive matches, nine in the Brasileirão, seven in the Gaúcho, one in the Copa Sudamericana and one in the Copa do Brasil. Across 1,574 minutes, he has one goal and one assist.
