The Polícia de Segurança Pública will increase its presence at Pavilhão Fidelidade for the third game of the Liga Placard women’s futsal final between Benfica and Nun’Álvares on Saturday, 6 June, following flashpoints in the previous match in Fafe.
Record reports that PSP spokesperson subintendente Sérgio Soares said the fixture has not been classified as high risk and there is no information pointing to fresh trouble, but policing will be reinforced as a preventive step to ensure conditions inside the venue.
The second game turned fractious with a little over four minutes left. After Angélica Alves was sent off, the Benfica player exchanged words with home supporters, a situation later mirrored by Maria Pereira.
Security staff and the GNR intervened, and five Benfica fans were identified for alleged assaults. The match was halted for 32 minutes before resuming, and Benfica won 4-1 to level the final.
The Autoridade para a Prevenção e o Combate à Violência no Desporto will send all information gathered about the incidents at Pavilhão do Grupo Nun’Álvares to the Ministério Público.
