Benzema ‘to seek’ first-team guarantees as Al-Hilal consider new striker | OneFootball

Al-Hilal have opened talks with Benzema to clarify his future before the new Roshn Saudi Pro League season. According to Goal.com, the discussions come as the club weigh their attacking options in the summer window.

Benzema wants firm assurances over a first-team role. He has no intention of staying if he is out of the coaching staff's plans or left on the bench.

Within Saudi Arabia, an option of registering him only for the AFC Champions League Elite while omitting him from the domestic squad has been floated. Benzema flatly rejects that scenario.

Al-Hilal continue to scan the striker market and are studying a move for a new centre-forward. Any signing in that position could prove decisive for his future over the coming weeks.

Benzema joined Al-Hilal last January but struggled to deliver, notably in big matches. The club missed out on the Roshn Pro League and the AFC Champions League Elite even with him in the side.
