Besiktas president Serdal Adali is confident of signing Nuno Tavares from Lazio, believing a deal could be sealed soon.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, negotiations with the Biancocelesti are at an advanced stage and Adali expects an agreement within days, if not hours.

There appear to be no issues on the player’s side. Talks with his parent club are ongoing and a further meeting took place yesterday.

The 25-year-old lost his starting spot after poor outings, especially against Roma and Bologna. Lazio aim to cash in and plan to replace him with Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza, who has already agreed to join next summer.

Tavares attracted interest from Sergio Conceicao’s Al-Ittihad earlier this month and Borussia Dortmund also enquired. Besiktas are pushing hardest, having already agreed terms with the player and his entourage.

The operation remains well advanced and shows no signs of collapsing, though the club have a fallback plan if it fails to materialise.

Last season, Claudio Lotito said he would not sell Tavares, not even for €70 million. Lazio are now reportedly open to a deal around €15 million, with Arsenal due a 35% sell-on.
