Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano has now decided to accept the offer from the club after a dramatic turn of events.
The French defender has a contract with Bayern until the end of the season, and his future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months.
While Upamecano never gave the impression that he wanted to leave Bayern, his contract situation alerted several top clubs, including Liverpool.

The 27-year-old centre-back has been outstanding this season under Vincent Kompany, and Bayern were determined to keep him at the club beyond the end of his current contract.
Florian Plettenberg confirmed that Liverpool are interested in Upamecano, as they probably see him as an ideal replacement for Ibrahima Konate, who will become a free agent next summer.
The Reds received a potential transfer boost after reports emerged that Upamecano’s camp and Bayern differ in the distribution of the signing fee.
“Bayern and Upamecano’s camp have largely agreed on the salary packages. However, they are not aligned on the signing fee.
“The defender’s camp have been demanding around €20m in one instalment. They have been pointing towards that figure for a long time.
“Bayern are ready to pay the amount, but they want to spread it over the proposed contract term and pay in several instalments.”
Christian Falk told CFBayern that Bayern withdrew their offer for Upamecano in writing today after getting frustrated with Upamecano’s approach to the matter.
The club had set a deadline and wanted a final decision by today, so the offer was no longer on the table.
Upamecano then informed Bayern that he wants to extend. The defender never wanted to leave the club, and he was simply caught in the middle of a power struggle.
Bayern will now allow Upamecano to sign a new deal. He is expected to extend his contract upto 2030, and the formalities could be completed by next week.
The news will come as a blow for Liverpool, although they have secured the signing of Jeremy Jacquet, who will join next season.
