Boavista stun Fluminense in Bacaxá to claim Carioca win

Fluminense was defeated 1-0 by Boavista this Saturday at the Eucyr Resende stadium in Bacaxá, during the third round of the Campeonato Carioca.

The result left the Tricolor with three points, in third place in Group A, while Boavista also reached three points, occupying fourth place in Group B.

How the Game Was

The match started with both teams focused on the attack. Boavista had the first chance, within a minute. Brunão attempted from outside the area and missed the target by a small margin. Fluminense responded with a shot by Matheus Reis that hit the side netting.

The home team threatened again shortly after. Guilherme Lacerda took advantage of a corner kick but headed over the crossbar. Boavista continued to perform better on the field and almost scored when Tito crossed, but the forwards couldn't reach in time to push it into the net.

As time went on, the game lost momentum. Boavista and Fluminense made numerous errors in the offensive sector. Only in stoppage time did the Tricolors create a good chance, with a shot by Lelê that was stopped by Lucas Matioli. Thus, the match remained tied until halftime.

In the second half, Boavista returned stronger and opened the scoring at two minutes. From a corner kick, Gabriel Caran headed the ball into the net.
