Boca are counting the cost of their Libertadores elimination, with Claudio Úbeda departing and the first team placed on leave. Juan Román Riquelme has begun reshaping the short-term plan.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the board opted not to renew Úbeda's contract, ending a 34-game spell. The squad have been released for holidays until 18 June.
Players will enjoy a 20-day recess while directors finalise a winter pre-season in Ezeiza. The rest is viewed as key ahead of a packed calendar after the FIFA World Cup pause.
Official action resumes in the Copa Sudamericana round of 32 against O'Higgins. The first leg is set for the week of 22 July at La Bombonera, where they have suffered five eliminations. The return is the week of 29 July in Chile.
The route was set by Friday's draw in Paraguay. If Boca advance, Recoleta await in the next round.
The second semester brings a triple front, with Copa Argentina at the round of 32, the Torneo Clausura and the ongoing Sudamericana.
Strategically, sustained league form is paramount for the annual table, which carries continental qualification and an official title.
Zeballos could leave during this transfer window.
Boca begin the Clausura on 30 points in the cumulative standings, third overall and only four behind leaders Independiente Rivadavia, a gap that demands near-perfect form.
