Both the Trotters and the Seasiders finished last season well short of the League One play-off places, finishing the season in eighth and ninth respectively, but also 10 and 11 points short of sixth-placed Leyton Orient.

Managers Steven Schumacher and Steve Bruce will both be looking to improve on last season's performance, and the availability of Palace defender Imray has seemingly piqued their interest.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that Bolton and Blackpool are both interested in taking Imray on loan following his successful stint with Bromley last season, and they join a League One rival in Huddersfield Town for the 21-year-old's services.

Nixon reported earlier in the week that the Terriers were looking into a move for Imray on loan or potentially a permanent deal if they could agree one with the Eagles as they look to bolster their right wing-back options.

Huddersfield are in a similar position to Bolton and Blackpool, having finished last season in 10th place in League One and fourteen points short of a play-off place, but under new manager Lee Grant, they have made a plethora of new additions already to their squad.

Imray will now seemingly have the choice of three big third tier clubs in England to choose from as of now for his next move, with chances of game-time at Selhurst Park likely to be slim to none.

Danny Imray should be ready for the step up to League One after Bromley exploits

The appeal of Danny Imray for ambitious League One clubs is obvious.

This is a player who has been on the books of a Premier League club since 2021, having joined their academy after impressing in the non-league game, but Imray has been unable to get into the Palace first team, with his appearances for them limited to the EFL Trophy.

He returned to National League South club Chelmsford City - from whom Palace acquired him in the first place - on loan, and spent last season on loan in League Two with Bromley, where he made 39 appearances, and he proved to be a hit at Hayes Lane, spending most of his time as a wing-back or further up the pitch as a right-winger.

For Palace, moving Imray up to League One makes sense.

It gives them the opportunity to see how he performs at a higher level, and it could also maximise the player's value if he continues to impress the further up the pyramid he goes.

And for all three of the interested League One clubs, Imray represents an opportunity. He hasn't been released by Palace, so they still see something in him, and players who are leaving an impression with Premier League clubs should comfortably be able to hold their own in League One.

Premier League quality players are often out of the reach of clubs in the lower divisions of the EFL. Whichever of these clubs ends up taking him on for the season, it would be a move that could benefit not only them, but also his parent club and the player himself.
