Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor says that she is confident that her side will qualify for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Just two points separate second-placed Chelsea and Manchester United in fourth while third-placed Arsenal have two games in hand.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Everton, Chelsea boss Bompastor said that she is confident in her side’s ability to finish in the top three.

“Of course, I am confident because I know the quality that we have in the squad and we have the mentality on the pitch to work hard,” Bompastor said. “I’m confident and the players are confident.

“You never know in football but you’ve got to be focused going into the next game. Going into every game, it will be a final and we will have to approach these games with the right mentality, make sure we put in the right performances to win them.

“I think we have enough quality to be in the Champions League next season.”

Chelsea’s long unbeaten league run under Bompastor was ended by Everton in the reverse fixture. Bompastor offered her thoughts on the upcoming match-up.

She said “Since that game, they’ve changed their manager. I have been observing their games and right now, they’re a team that are really well-organised defensively and they have some quality in transition on the ball.

“With the block that we had last time, we are also focusing on ourselves. We’ve put together some really good performances and we are confident that we have enough quality to go into this block being able to achieve a lot of good things. This is what I also want the players to be focusing on.”

Everton are in the final stages of their first season at Goodison Park while Chelsea will move to their main stadium at Stamford Bridge in 2026/2027. Bompastor gave her opinion on the move to The Bridge.

She said “It’s really exciting for us to play in that historic stadium. I think we all love to play in that stadium. We want to move in and make sure we progress with our ambitions and match them.

“For a club like Chelsea, to be able to play in the bigger stadium at Stamford Bridge is great news. We want to create a really special atmosphere for the fans and create that connection between players and fans.

“We have had really good memories at Kingsmeadow but when you talk about Chelsea, Stamford Bridge is the stadium that you want to play in and we want to create even more memories in that stadium. It’s really exciting and great news.”

Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Everton kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
