Among Manchester United’s lengthy list of forward targets heading into the transfer window will likely be Benjamin Sesko, whom they’ve held an interest in for the last few years.

Last summer, the Red Devils were one of a host of Premier League clubs – along with Arsenal and Chelsea – to officially join the race for his signature by approaching the player with their proposal.

However, after taking several weeks to consider all his options, Sesko ultimately rebuffed interest from England’s top flight to commit his future to RB Leipzig by signing a fresh contract that runs until 2029. A gentleman’s agreement was included in the terms, allowing him to leave in a relatively stress-free deal either this year or next.

That’s why the 21-year-old is again expected to be one of the sagas of the transfer window if he decides to part ways with Leipzig in the coming months – and INEOS will no doubt be waiting in the wings to see how the situation unfolds.

What’s now being said about Sesko’s potential move

United have received an early boost in their potential pursuit, too. German outlet BILD now reports the prolific frontman is ready for a move to the Premier League and it would be his preference if he were to be sold.

Sesko would be an undeniable coup for the Reds if a transfer came to fruition. Not only does his young age meet INEOS’ requirements of scouting young talents, but his goalscoring record speaks for itself: 45 goals and 14 assists in 112 (German and Austrian) Bundesliga appearances.

In 2024/2025 alone, the Slovenian has netted 17 goals and contributed six assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

He and Rasmus Hojlund can bounce off one another to refine their clinicality in front of the goal while also working in harmony with Joshua Zirkzee, who prefers to drop a little deeper than a conventional No.9.
