Girondins de Bordeaux have withdrawn official recognition of North Gate, one of their ultras groups, following recent incidents.

The club said in a statement on Saturday that the move follows recent incidents and court rulings against several individuals identified as North Gate members.

It added that the behaviour and acts that led to those convictions are incompatible with the values the club seeks to uphold.

Founded in March 2023, North Gate are among the club’s newer ultras groups.

In early March, two North Gate members received suspended prison terms of two and three years respectively, plus a stadium ban of three years, for assaulting a supporter from the main Bordeaux ultras group, the Ultramarines, during the night of 24-25 January.
