Oscar Bobb looks set to join German giants Borussia Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the ongoing season, according to reports in Germany.

Bobb has remained highly rated by Pep Guardiola and club officials, but his route to consistent first-team minutes has been complicated by both fitness issues and intensifying competition across Manchester City’s forward line.

The Norway international endured a frustrating 2024/25 campaign after suffering a leg bone fracture in the opening week of the Premier League season, ruling him out for much of the year after an impressive pre-season tour.

More recently, Bobb was forced off early during Manchester City’s Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Brentford with a hamstring problem, further disrupting his rhythm at a crucial stage of the season.

Off the pitch, Bobb’s future has been the subject of growing transfer speculation with Crystal Palace having been strongly linked with a January approach as reports suggested City would be open to offers for the winger amid wider interest from Premier League clubs.

Now, according to the information of German news outlet SPORT1, Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing the loan signing of Oscar Bobb from Manchester City until the end of the ongoing season.

It is however stressed that an agreement can only be entirely finalised when Antoine Semenyo completes his transfer from Bournemouth to the Etihad Stadium, with the widespread belief being that the Ghanaian should be a Manchester City player by the conclusion of the weekend.

For Oscar Bobb, it is also highlighted that Borussia Dortmund could have opportunity to turn their initial loan deal into a permanent transfer in the summer, with the report pointing towards a €30 million option to buy.

Should the deal be completed, the move would offer Bobb a familiar pathway with Dortmund holding a strong track record of nurturing young talent in high-pressure environments, while City would benefit from regular minutes for the player without immediately severing ties.

The anticipated arrival of Antoine Semenyo at Manchester City would also ease short-term attacking concerns while allowing Oscar Bobb the chance to rebuild fitness and form away from the intense scrutiny of Pep Guardiola’s rotation-heavy system.

Much will now hinge on the finalisation of Manchester City’s incoming business and Bobb’s recovery timeline. If all pieces fall into place, this loan could prove a pivotal step in determining whether the Norwegian’s long-term future lies back at the Etihad Stadium.
