Borussia Dortmund ‘furious’ following Chelsea’s recall of defender Aaron Anselmino (20) | OneFootball

Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund are unhappy with Chelsea’s decision to recall central defender Aaron Anselmino from his loan. 

Yesterday, it was reported that the Premier League side had activated the option to recall the Anselmino prematurely. 

Dortmund are said to be furious with Chelsea’s decision to make the move now, with only a week left of the winter transfer window. It now means the Bundesliga side has less time to try and potentially source a replacement for Anselmino. 

During his six months at the Signal Iduna Park, when available, Anselmino impressed in the 10 games he played under Niko Kovac. However, the 20-year-old has suffered two muscular injuries that have kept him out for extended periods. 

Will Dortmund sign a replacement?

Multiple outlets report that Dortmund will not look to sign a replacement for Anselmino in this window. Instead, they will stop Filippo Mane from leaving the club on loan in January. 

While die Schwarzgelben are now left with fewer options in central defence, their options now are: Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, Emre Can, Niklas Süle and Ramy Bensebaini.
