Borussia Dortmund are pushing ahead with talks to sign Chelsea pair Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino in a move that could see both players head to the Bundesliga this summer.

Dortmund have long admired Chukwuemeka and remain intent on bringing the 21-year-old back to Germany after his difficult loan spell last season.

Chelsea have made clear that any agreement must be a permanent transfer, and negotiations have now advanced to that stage.

The midfielder, signed from Aston Villa in 2022, is valued at approximately £21 million to £40 million and has drawn attention from several other clubs.

Juventus, RB Leipzig, West Ham and Nottingham Forest have all expressed interest in recent months. Dortmund, however, appear to be leading the chase.

Alongside Chukwuemeka, the German club are also targeting Anselmino.

The Argentine defender joined Chelsea from Boca Juniors for around £15.6 million last year but has featured only briefly at senior level.

Dortmund’s need for reinforcements in defence is pressing, with Emre Can, Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck all currently sidelined.

The club believe Anselmino’s development would be best served with regular minutes and have proposed a loan deal to cover their shortages.

Chelsea have indicated they would be open to such an arrangement but have tied it to the permanent sale of Chukwuemeka.

Dortmund are understood to be aware of this condition and are prepared to move ahead if terms can be agreed.

Anselmino himself has already signalled his willingness to make the switch, while Chukwuemeka is also keen on joining BVB.

Sources in Germany have described the midfielder’s desire to play under Edin Terzic as a decisive factor.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has admitted that Anselmino needs competitive action to progress, describing him as a ‘fantastic player’ who requires more than training ground involvement.

The London club also face restrictions with FIFA’s overseas loan quota, limiting them to six international loans, four of which are already filled.

Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to reshape their squad.

Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons are both admired, while sales are being explored for Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and several senior names including Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi.

Talks between Chelsea and Dortmund are expected to continue in the coming days, with the Bundesliga club increasingly confident of securing at least one of their two targets before the window closes.
