Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho is once again at the centre of transfer speculation, with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus reportedly circling. As reported by Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth, Dortmund have already explored the conditions of a deal to re-sign Sancho, who enjoyed a revitalised loan spell with the Bundesliga side during the latter half of the 2023/24 season.
Sky in Germany confirm that “internal discussions are taking place about bringing him back to the club,” underlining that serious interest is building behind the scenes. Dortmund, who lost in the Champions League final just weeks ago, appear keen to restore a familiar figure to their attacking ranks.
After a frustrating spell at Old Trafford, Sancho was loaned back to Dortmund in January 2024. It was a move that breathed life back into the 25-year-old’s career. His form played a pivotal role in Dortmund’s deep run in Europe, with Sancho showing glimpses of the spark that initially convinced United to pay £73 million in 2021.

As Sky Sports confirms, “Sancho impressed in that loan spell as Dortmund reached the Champions League final.” While he did not lift the trophy, his performances reignited interest across Europe, with Juventus also entering talks with United and Sancho’s representatives about a permanent move.
The Italian giants are understood to have made initial contact, as “Juventus have held talks with United and the player’s representatives about signing Sancho.” However, it remains to be seen whether they are in a financial position to match United’s valuation or if they are hoping to capitalise on the club’s willingness to move the winger on.
Juventus may view Sancho as a long-term investment, but Dortmund offer familiarity, a tactical fit, and Champions League football – factors that may influence the player’s decision.
The big question is how Manchester United view the situation under new boss Ruben Amorim. Sancho’s fallout with previous manager Erik ten Hag was well documented, but Amorim’s appointment could have opened the door for reconciliation. However, with no pre-season minutes so far, the writing may be on the wall.
United are likely to consider both financial and sporting factors. Sancho remains on high wages and shifting him permanently could support the club’s plans to reinforce other areas. Whether that happens through a sale or a structured loan remains uncertain.
At this stage, Dortmund appear to be leading the race, but Juventus’ interest complicates matters. United must now decide whether Sancho fits into Amorim’s vision or whether it is time to cut ties for good.
As a Manchester United fan, this report is both unsurprising and slightly disappointing. Jadon Sancho’s quality has never been in doubt. His impact at Dortmund, particularly in the Champions League run, proved that with the right support system, he can deliver on the biggest stage.
From a supporter’s perspective, there’s frustration in how this situation has been handled. While the fall-out with Ten Hag made headlines, there was always hope that a managerial change would reset the slate. With Ruben Amorim now in charge, it is odd that there has been so little public indication of Sancho’s place in the squad.
If Dortmund are willing to take him back, and Juventus are also knocking, it raises one important question: does United still believe in Sancho, or is the club simply looking to balance the books? Fans would welcome a manager like Amorim taking a final look before any permanent decision. Letting Sancho go now, especially without seeing him in action during pre-season, feels premature.
Ultimately, if the club do sell, it needs to be on the right terms. Sancho is still just 25, and if he goes back to Dortmund and thrives again, United may find themselves regretting the decision for a long time.
