Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund are set to extend the contract of midfielder Felix Nmecha, amid interest from abroad.
Nmecha’s current contract at the Signal Iduna Park does not expire until 2028, after joining from Wolfsburg for €30m in 2023. His new deal, will be valid until 2030 and it will make him one of Dortmund’s better paid players.
The 25-year-old has been attracting interest from the Premier League with Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and former club Manchester City showing interest in the midfielder, who grew up in England and played in the City academy.
Obviously, as great as Nmecha is on the pitch, question marks will consistently be raised about his off-pitch views and who he hangs around with.
In a week where Julian Brandt won’t extend his contract, this suggests the direction that Dortmund are now heading in.
Die Schwarzgelben will hope that the extension of Nmecha will indicate to Nico Schlotterbeck that they want to win and keep their best players.
The talk around the defender’s future has been one of the biggest talking points surrounding the club in recent weeks.
