Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without top scorer Serhou Guirassy for their Bundesliga clash against SC Freiburg on Saturday.
In a blow to Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of getting back to winning ways, they will be without Serhou Guirassy for their Bundesliga home game against SC Freiburg on Saturday afternoon (kick-off at 15:30 CET). The striker is said to be dealing with an illness and wasn’t able to train with the team after returning from international duty with Guinea in the lead-up to the game as a result.
According to Sky Sport, the aim is that Guirassy can overcome his illness and return to the squad for Wednesday’s trip to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League. He should also be available for next weekend’s Der Klassiker, as Borussia Dortmund host Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Guirassy has scored nine goals in 13 appearances for Borussia Dortmund since his summer move from VfB Stuttgart. The 28 year old will likely be replaced up front by Maximilian Beier, while Donyell Malen could also come into the starting XI. Another option for Nuri Sahin could be to field Marcel Sabitzer out wide once again.
While Serhou Guirassy will miss the Freiburg clash, Borussia Dortmund will welcome a host of key players back into the squad. Gregor Kobel and Waldemar Anton are both set to return to the starting XI, while Gio Reyna and Julien Duranville are also part of the matchday squad. Emre Can will miss Saturday’s game through suspension.
