Borussia Dortmund head to Lille this evening looking to secure their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Last season’s runners-up have endured a tough campaign domestically but are in contention to reach the last eight in Europe. The first leg ended all square at the Westfalenstadion, as Lille youngster Hákon Arnar Haraldsson cancelled out Karim Adeyemi”s sweetly-struck opener for Dortmund.
Lille will start as slight favourites on home soil, as the French side look to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in their history. Bruno Génésio’s side boast a strong record at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, winning 10 and drawing two of their last 12 home games in Europe. That run includes victory over Real Madrid this season.
Niko Kovac has few issues in his squad with Felix Nmecha the most high-profile absentee for the Germans. On-loan youngster Daniel Svensson is also out with a knee issue, while fellow loanee Carney Chukwuemeka is doubtful with a muscular problem.
It’s an otherwise clean bill of health for Dortmund, who will be spearheaded by Serhou Guirassy. The forward made eight goalless Ligue 1 appearances for Lille in 2015/16 before evolving into one of Europe’s top goal poachers. Guirassy has 10 goals in the Champions League this season with only Barcelona’s Raphinha (11) having netted more.
Borussia Dortmund predicted XI: Kobel; Ryerson, Can, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Sabitzer, Gross; Adeyemi, Brandt, Bynoe-Gittens; Guirassy.
Lille host Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday 12th March 2025. Kick-off in France is 17:45 GMT.
The match will be shown live on TNT Sports in the UK.
