Botafogo have lodged a complaint against OL over unpaid debts, escalating a rift between the former Eagle Football sister clubs under John Textor.
According to Le Progres, the Rio side, still chaired by Textor, is seeking to recover more than 745 million reais, over 125 million euros.
The figure relates to loans advanced to OL when both clubs were in the same holding. Repayment was set out in pre-agreed terms, and Eagle Football’s purchase of OL came at the end of 2022 when the club was described as insolvent.
OL had earlier referred the Jeffinho transfer to FIFA after signing the forward in January 2023 for more than 10 million euros.
He featured sparingly, returned to Botafogo on loan, then was sold permanently in January 2025 for 5.3 million euros. OL reportedly never received the money from that transaction.
