Bournemouth have started talks with Chelsea over a potential deal to sign centre-back Axel Disasi.

Disasi has returned to Chelsea after spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. The Frenchman made seven league appearances for Aston Villa, having struggled for regular minutes at Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth have now opened talks with Chelsea over a loan deal with an option to buy. The Cherries are rebuilding their backline following extensive departures this summer, with Illia Zabaryni, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez having all departed for leading European clubs in the current transfer window.

Disasi could provide competition for Marco Senesi and new signing Bafodé Diakité. An ability to cover centrally and at right-back boosts his appeal.

ournalist Sacha Tavolieri has confirmed the transfer talks between the clubs, though there is rival interest in Disasi.

Wolves, who first expressed interest in the player in January, remain keen. Vitor Pereira’s side are reportedly considering a double bid for Disasi and out-of-favour Chelsea teammate David Datro Fofana.
