Bournemouth could join the chase for Lazio centre-back Mario Gila, but Napoli are out in front after progress on personal terms.

According to Il Messaggero, the Cherries are weighing an approach and may look to exploit delays in talks between Napoli and Lazio.

Gila, 25, has one year left on his contract and is widely expected to leave. Napoli have a verbal agreement with his agent, Alejandro Camano, for a €3 million annual salary, though they have not met Lazio’s €30 million valuation.

Lazio set that price with Real Madrid due 50% of any profit. Napoli are exploring player options, mainly Lorenzo Lucca and Sam Beukema, but finding an acceptable package remains difficult.

Bournemouth already opened dialogue with Lazio in January over Christos Mandas’ loan and later chose not to activate an €18 million purchase option for the Greek goalkeeper.

While Bournemouth are able to outbid Napoli in a bidding war, the indication is that Gila prefers a move to Napoli. His agent has even treated a switch to the Stadio Maradona as a personal dream. Napoli therefore appear to hold the advantage unless they walk away if no accord is reached with Claudio Lottio.
