Bournemouth are in advanced talks to sign Elche forward Alvaro Rodriguez. According to NY Times, if completed the move would be worth €30million (£25.7m; $39.8m).
The 21-year-old Real Madrid academy graduate is nearing a five-year deal, keeping him at the Vitality Stadium until 2031. The package comprises a €25m fee plus €5m in add-ons.
Madrid are set to receive half of the fee (€12.5m; $14.2m; £10.6m) and will relinquish their rights over the Uruguay youth international, who left the Santiago Bernabeu last summer.
Bournemouth will play European football for the first time next season after qualifying for the Europa League with a sixth-place Premier League finish. Marcos Senesi has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free, and the club are trying to renew Alex Scott, who has two years left.
Rodriguez made seven La Liga appearances for Madrid before a 2024-25 loan at Getafe, where he played 26 times, scoring three and assisting one.
He joined Elche in July 2025 on a contract until 2029 and became a first-team regular, missing only four league games. He contributed seven goals and five assists as they finished 15th.
He represented Spain at youth level before switching to Uruguay under-20s. He scored five goals at the 2023 U-20 South American Championship, has not featured since, and is yet to earn a senior call-up.
