A quirky flashpoint in Flamengo’s 3-1 win over Santos saw goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão tell Jorginho he knew the midfielder’s penalty secret, moments before the Flamengo player scored at the Maracanã.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Brazão said the pair share a mutual friend who had given him the “password” for the spot kick. He praised Jorginho as a fine penalty taker, noting the shot was struck quicker and harder than he anticipated, and he could not reach it.

Jorginho echoed that version, saying nutritionist Gustavo Carvalho has worked with both and that Brazão claimed to know how to save it. He said he replied that they would see, then after converting, told the Santos keeper it was close.

The exchange came as Jorginho turned the game for Flamengo in the 10th round of the Brasileirão.

Jorginho will not have the chance to reprise his little hop from the spot on Wednesday against Cusco (PER), as he has been ruled out by the medical department and will not travel for the Libertadores opener.
