Previously, in his media conference ahead of the Flag Day opener against St Mirren, Rodgers had insisted that he would only stay at Celtic until the end of this season – his third season in a three year contract – and would not remain unless the club showed enough ambition in their transfer dealings to allow the club to develop further and support the manager as he attempts to re-establish Celtic as a credible player at Champions League level.

Asked today at his media conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Livingston, if he’d consider leaving as a result of the club’s failings in the transfer market regarding signings, he emphatically closed that down, even joking about having tried that previously and it not going down too well.

This time Brendan will stay and work with the players that he has. There are strong indications that at least four signings will be coming in and depending on how the now problematic right back situation pans out over the next week with Alistair Johnston confirmed to be missing for the three months, that could rise to five players arriving before the window closes.

That may be enough to convince Rodgers to re-engage with the board on a new contract, which would obviously include hearing their vision for next season and the two years after that before be penned another three year contract.

Here’s Brendan confirming that there is no chance that he will leave Celtic during this season by his own accord.
