Brentford are sweating on Mikkel Damsgaard’s fitness for Saturday night’s trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United.

Tottenham Hotspur said in a statement that Guglielmo Vicario will undergo hernia surgery next week, a minor procedure timed to minimise disruption. He will begin rehabilitation immediately and could return within one month. The Italy international has started all 30 Premier League games this season.

Damsgaard has returned to training after a knock on Monday, having left the 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers after 72 minutes and missed some sessions this week. Head coach Keith Andrews said he was back on the grass and will be given every chance to make the game. He scored two and created one in the recent win over Burnley.

Brentford will be without full-backs Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey because of hamstring injuries. Vitaly Janelt, metatarsal, and Josh Dasilva, knee ligament, are sidelined, while Fábio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo are out for the rest of the season with ACL problems.

Leeds have everyone available apart from the suspended Gabriel Gudmundsson. Brentford arrive in red-hot away form with victories at Burnley, Newcastle United and Aston Villa. Andrews said the group feel calm and confident after their recent run.
