Brentford Women secured their second pre-season win ahead of the 2026/27 campaign with a 5-0 victory over Reading at Jersey Road on Wednesday night.

Wiktoria Kiszkis impressed with a hat-trick, last season’s Player of the Year Asees Sangha and Supporters’ Player of the Year Ashley Cheatley also getting on the scoresheet in the win.

Carly Williams made four changes to the starting line-up that was defeated by QPR on Sunday, with new recruits Georgie Giddings and Rhian Cleverly coming into the starting group, alongside Sangha and Maï Louvrier.

In sunny conditions in west London the Bees started positively. Makeba Black had an early impact as she forced her way past multiple defenders inside Reading’s half before playing to Sangha. The midfielder clashed with the Royals goalkeeper but managed to get a shot off, the ball bouncing wide of the goal.

On five minutes Williams’ side came close to scoring through Cheatley. Receiving the ball from Rebecca Teale on her back foot inside the box, Cheatley turned and fired, the ball smashing into the bar before being cleared.

Three minutes later it was Kiszkis finding space in the box as she met a well-placed Sangha free-kick, but her glancing header faded across goal.

Kiszkis found another chance on 16 minutes as Teale’s cross from the right side skipped across the box and found her in space, but her shot off the half-volley was kept out by Reading’s goalkeeper.

The visitors came close to finding an opener against the tide on 27 minutes. A long cross put into a dangerous area in Brentford’s box wasn’t dealt with by the hosts, Reading’s shot sailing left of the goal.

The west Londoners responded positively and went ahead just after the half-hour mark. Giddings’ dangerous cross was met strongly by the Reading goalkeeper, however she spilt the ball, Sangha there to tap home the rebound from close range.

The lead was doubled just after the restart as Kiszkis got her reward. After pressing strongly and winning the ball back, the forward pushed forward on the counterattack and put the ball into the left side of the net to make it 2-0 in the blink of an eye.

As added time in the first time arrived it was Katie Gilligan who had a chance to make it three, the ball falling off the pack from a cross to the midfielder near the edge of the box, but her shot was kept out, moments before the half-time whistle sounded.

Brentford welcomed on the fresh legs of Lucy Potter, Abbi Smith, Ilana Harris-Walters and Chelsie Berry to start the second half and the latter was immediately in the action.

Making a run down the left side and into Reading’s box, Berry crossed to Cheatley in the middle who looked to score with an athletic midair shot, but it was tipped over the bar by the Royals goalkeeper.

Kiszkis had her brace on 55 minutes and Brentford’s third as Williams’ side continued to impress. Receiving the ball from Harris-Walters’ cross, the forward made no mistake as she finished well.

The west Londoners had their fourth goal three minutes later. A well-placed cross dragged Reading’s goalkeeper out of their goal, however she wasn’t able to impact as Cheatley met the ball on the bounce and flicked it into an open net with the outside of her boot.

As the game entered its final 20 minutes Kiszkis had a hat-trick in her sights. Taking possession in the middle of the pitch, the forward turned and broke forward before playing to Berry breaking through the backline. The winger took a touch past the Reading goalkeeper coming out of her goal before cutting the ball back to Kiszkis who tapped it home for a well-deserved hat-trick.

Four minutes later Millie Constantine came close to the goal of the day as she looked to whip the ball from the right side of the box into the left side of the net, however the ball smashed into the post before being cleared.

It was Teale’s turn next as she found herself in space just inside the box and sent a powerful strike towards goal, but it was straight at the goalkeeper’s hands who kept the ball out.

The Bees now turn their attention to a clash with Lewes on Sunday at Honeycroft, kick-off at 2pm.
