Sunderland have been credited with interest in Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye, while fresh Italian claims link Brian Brobbey with Juventus at a potential £30.1 million to £34.4 million. Everton’s midfield plans form part of the backdrop to Gueye’s situation.
TEAMtalk reports Everton are considering Gueye, who joined Villarreal from Marseille in 2024 and has impressed in LaLiga as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder. The same report says Crystal Palace, Brighton and Sunderland are monitoring his position after strong club and World Cup displays.
At Goodison Park, Idrissa Gana Gueye is now a free agent after his contract expired and remains on World Cup duty with Senegal. Everton could yet reopen talks after the tournament, and are expected to complete a £16.5 million move for Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney.
Tuttomercatoweb claims Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey has been offered to Juventus as they search for attacking reinforcements, with the Dutchman viewed as a possible alternative to Randal Kolo Muani. The report suggests that fee range could be enough to start a conversation.
That figure, and the idea Sunderland might be touting their leading striker during the Granit Xhaka transfer saga, is being treated with caution on Wearside. Brobbey only arrived last summer and his importance extends beyond goals within the Premier League project.
The mooted valuation also appears presumptive given his status, importance and contract at the Stadium of Light, and any serious discussion would likely require a significantly higher price. Brobbey is set to return after the Netherlands’ World Cup exit, having enhanced his reputation. Sunderland will aim to reintegrate a key attacker quickly as focus shifts to pre-season and the Premier League campaign ahead.
