Brighton & Hove Albion have made it clear they have no intention of selling midfielder Carlos Baleba (21) in the upcoming January transfer window, according to reports by Sky Sports.
The 21-year-old has been a standout performer under Fabian Hürzeler, drawing long-term interest from Manchester United, who explored a potential move during the summer. However, Brighton’s firm stance and reluctance to negotiate ultimately halted any progress, and that position remains unchanged heading into the new year.
United still hold strong admiration for the Cameroon-born midfielder but will have to wait until next summer if they wish to reignite their pursuit. The club is expected to make central midfield a priority area of recruitment as part of their rebuilding plans under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s leadership.
With Casemiro’s contract expiring at the end of the season, United are weighing up potential successors. Baleba is among several names under consideration, alongside Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, who has also impressed scouts.
