Chelsea have won three consecutive Premier League games for the first time this season after a 2-0 triumph over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Enzo Maresca’s side ran out emphatic 3-0 winners over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their most recent outing before the international break and were keen to pick up where they left off.

Liam Delap had Chelsea’s first bite at the cherry after nine minutes, but sent his effort well clear of the target, much to the frustration of several teammates who were open for a pass.

Down the other end, Burnley produced the opening save of the game as Loum Tchouna drew a comfortable save out of Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea continued to enjoy the vast majority of the ball possession, albeit with little end product, primarily due to their lack of build-up speed.

The away side finally had an attempt on target on the half-hour mark when Trevoh Chalobah tried his luck with a long-range effort, which posed little threat to Martin Dubravka.

With Jamie Bynoe-Gittens poised to fire home from close range, Kyle Walker denied Chelsea a near-certain goal with a last-ditch clearance as they stepped up their attacking impetus.

Chelsea were rewarded with the opener eight minutes from the interval courtesy of Pedro Neto’s well-placed header from Gittens’ floated delivery.

That was the half’s final noteworthy moment, leaving Chelsea narrowly in front heading into the interval.

Having cut a peripheral figure in the first half, Joao Pedro sent a left-footed effort wide in the early exchanges of the second half.

Gittens came alive as the opening 45 minutes wore out and had a curling attempt deflected just wide as Chelsea pushed for a second goal.

Neto nearly doubled his tally in the 63rd minute when he hit the base of the post after a flowing move from Chelsea.

Burnley did well to stay alive in the contest and should have levelled matters midway through the second half, but Zian Flemming failed to keep his effort down from a promising situation.

After recently opening his Chelsea account, Malo Gusto was presented with a decent opportunity to make it two goals in as many strikes, but he fired straight at Dubravka from inside the area.

A second goal two minutes from the end of time ensured Chelsea could afford to end the game with relative comfort, thanks to Enzo Fernandez’s fourth league goal of the season.

That settled any late nerves and got Chelsea over the line, moving them up to second in the standings, three points behind Arsenal.
