Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford is a potential option for Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.
Guglielmo Vicario underwent surgery after playing on with a fractured ankle against Manchester City on Saturday.
Vicario’s injury surprised Spurs, and he faces months out of action. Manager Ange Postecoglou is keen to bolster his options in goal when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the New Year.
Fraser Forster will be in goal for Tottenham over the next few weeks, but a move for Trafford could be on the cards, with the 22-year-old eager to return to the Premier League.
Chelsea star Cole Palmer believes the Burnley star is ‘world-class’, and his regular invites to the England squad highlight his quality.
Trafford made 28 Premier League appearances last term and has featured in 15 Championship games this term.
Spurs need a goalkeeper capable of giving Forster and Vicario a run for their money, and the Englishman fits the bill as he is also comfortable with playing out from the back.
A couple of English top-flight clubs have been keeping tabs on Trafford since Burnley were relegated, and he could be back in the Premier League in the coming months.
However, the Clarets may not want to sell their goalie in January as they are currently in the play-off places in the Championship table after 16 games.
Burnley are fourth in the table, two points behind leaders Leeds United, and they will fancy their chances of sealing an immediate return to the big time.
Tottenham may need to look elsewhere for goalkeeping reinforcements in January, and their scouts will not be short of quality options.
