Burnley’s American owners under fire after 15-game winless run

It has now been over 100 days since Burnley have won a game of football in the Premier League. That victory came against bottom club Wolves thanks to an injury time winner after the Clarets threw away a two-goal lead.

Last night they faced fellow-promoted side Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. They were put to the sword by a Black Cats side that didn’t even need to get out of first gear to beat them. The home team won the game 3-0, but that only tells half the story.

Lackluster Burnley failed to register a single shot on target, the second time that has happened in the last seven league games. They also only managed to create an xG of 0.07 – the lowest in the Premier League so far this season.

It’s pretty clear where Burnley will be playing their football next season: the Championship.

No Problems for Parker

This is a position and a run of form that would see Burnley manager Scott Parker sacked by pretty much every single club in the world. But for some reason he doesn’t seem to be under any pressure at all at Turf Moor.

Just a few weeks ago he confirmed that he was getting ‘support’ from Burnley Chairman Alan Pace (left) – more than he ‘ever had any of his previous clubs.’ That in itself is extremely concerning.

There’s much more we can go into when it comes to the Burnley owners: ALK Capital LLC. We can begin with the leveraged buy out in 2020, their silence since the October 2025 acquisition of RCD Espanyol, and the poor communications on a variety of things since taking over the club.

But most damningly, the club have gone backwards on the pitch since Alan Pace took over the club, and the hierarchy don’t seem to be learning from their mistakes.

A Confederation of Dunces

Poor recruitment, blindly backing a manager despite poor form, and failing to react to what is happening week over week in front of them. ALK are starting to look like an ownership group that don’t care – maybe cause they’re more focussed on things elsewhere – and a lot of the fans are starting to turn.

This season is done for Burnley. But Alan (picture below) needs to learn, and he needs to learn fast, or Burnley could become the new Stoke City – stranded in the Championship with no signs of getting out of it.
