Espérance de Tunis will be without some of their top players for their clash against Tanzania’s Simba in the third round of the CAF Champions League group stage.

The Blood and Gold currently sit third in Group D with two points, while the Lions are at the bottom of the table in fourth place after losing both of their matches—against Petro Luanda (0-1) and Stade Malien (1-2).

Tunisia’s most historic club will be without both of their Tunisian internationals, Mohamed Ben Ali and Yassine Meriah, as well as Algerian international Mohamed Amine Tougai, all sidelined due to injuries sustained during the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

With their backs against the wall, Espérance de Tunis must secure a win to stay in the race for a quarter-final berth, especially as they currently trail Stade Malien (Mali) and group leaders Petro Luanda (Angola), who top the group with four points.
