Caleta-Car and Wesley leave Real Sociedad after cup-winning season | OneFootball

Real Sociedad have confirmed the departures of Duje Caleta-Car and Wesley Gassova, as planning begins for next season across La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Europa League and the Supercopa de Arabia.

The club said in a statement that Saturday’s match in Barcelona against RCD Espanyol closed an unforgettable campaign. It noted that both players contributed to the success, thanked them for their commitment and wished them well for the future.

Caleta-Car joined last summer from Olympique Lyon with a non-obligatory purchase option of three million euros, becoming the first signing under sporting director Erik Bretos. The Croatia international played 2,629 minutes in 32 games, 27 in La Liga and five in the cup, scoring one goal.

Wesley Gassova arrived in January from Al Nassr with an option to buy of about 12 million euros after Take Kubo suffered an injury that sidelined him for several matches. He featured only in five league games, totalling 85 minutes.

Both players depart with a Copa del Rey winners’ medal as Real Sociedad turn to reshaping the squad for the new campaign.
