Carlos Vinicius is Brazil’s leading scorer in 2026 and is contracted to Grêmio only until December. The centre-forward has eight goals in eight games this season.

According to Globo.com, the club and the player have not yet discussed a renewal, though officials are not expected to wait long before opening talks on keeping him in Porto Alegre.

He leads the national scoring charts ahead of Robson of Novorizontino on seven, all scored in the Campeonato Paulista. Since arriving in July 2025, Vinicius has 20 goals in 22 appearances for Grêmio.

His deal contains two clauses that favour Grêmio, an option to extend if he features in more than 60% of matches or if he is called up for the World Cup. Either route could take the contract to the end of 2027 at least.

He scored his first Grêmio goal in Gre-Nal 448 on 21 September 2025, ending a year and a half without scoring. His previous strike was on 17 March 2024 for Galatasaray in a 4-3 win over Kasimpasa in the league in Türkiye.

Last year he hit a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Juventude in the 30th round of the Brasileirão. In 2026 he has a treble against São Luiz in the Gauchão and three of Grêmio’s five in the win over Botafogo at the Arena. His tally already equals one third of his best season, 2019/2020 with Benfica, when he scored 24 in 47.
