Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has once again taken aim at Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, this time criticizing his absence from the media spotlight as the Reds endure a rough patch under Dutch manager Arne Slot.

Carragher’s comments came after Virgil van Dijk faced the press alone following Liverpool’s stunning 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield last Saturday.

Speaking on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, Carragher argued that Salah, as one of the club’s leading figures, should step up and take more responsibility during tough times: “Usually, we only hear from Salah after he’s won a man-of-the-match award or when it’s about his contract.”

The former England international added: “Van Dijk almost always shoulders the media duties, which comes with being captain. But the team’s senior players should share that responsibility, and Salah is top of that list. I’d like to see him step forward and represent the club in these situations.”
