Madrid are being more heavily linked with Dalot following the confirmation that veteran full-back Dani Carvajal would be leaving upon the expiration of his contract next month.

Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has endured a stop-start maiden campaign in Madrid due to injuries, but has also failed to impress in the appearances he has made, prompting the board to enter the market for a new addition in the position.
Dalot is as reliable on the fitness front as any club would like from a player, even if his form has often fluctuated throughout the course of a season.

Another reason Madrid may be looking to prise the 27-year-old from Old Trafford is that Jose Mourinho is poised to take charge once again ahead of the 2026/2027 term.
He was the one who brought Dalot to United back in 2018, signing him in a £19 million deal from Porto.
After the defender’s first two league outings, Mourinho said: “Everybody knows that he (Dalot) has fantastic potential.
“I don’t want to compare, especially not the number of titles, but he is probably the same age as Gary Neville when he came into the first team. Probably he can follow Neville in this dynamic of more than 10 years as United’s right-back, with amazing conditions to improve, because as I was saying, he’s 19 years old.”
Yet, Carrick, who is also awaiting his own appointment as United’s long-term manager and Ruben Amorim’s successor, is keen to keep hold of Dalot in the transfer window.
He is contracted to the Reds until 2028, plus the option of an additional 12 months.
